Hi, all,

Wanted to update everyone with the goings-on here at Free Radicals. We have been assigned two (2) provisional ISSNs for our print and electronic versions of Free Radicals magazine. In July, we are scheduled to send out print copies of the magazine to contributors and those interested in the magazine in general. I am working on the final edits for those pieces that have been accepted for Issue 001. I am still working through submissions sent between February and May 2021. My hope is to have those submissions personally reviewed by month's end, or at least by the beginning of June 2021. Lastly, a PDF copy of the magazine will be made available here on Free Radicals' official Website by May/June, depending on editorial issues.

  • Send your best (i.e., polished) work.

  • For those submitting fiction pieces, please use the industry-standard formatting as seen on William Shunn's Official Website.

  • For those submitting artwork/photography, please ensure your pictures are print-quality. That means images/artwork need to be 300 dpi.

  • Make sure you include a readable (and professional) cover letter, introducing yourself, your submission(s), and your experiences. The cover letter should include contact information, including a mailing address. This information will be used to send your contributor copies if you are accepted for publication.

  • Offer a fifty-word biography in third-person. Keep it short and engaging.

  • Send polished work to our Submit.as submissions system or e-mail freeradicalszine@gmail.com. If you like Duotrope, we also have a Duosuma submission page.

We are looking for all kinds of speculative fiction with literary twists! That means we are looking for fiction with a “What if?” at its center, along with realistic characters, or at least characters we can like and even love.

We publish short-form fiction with lengths between 500 and 20,000 words.

All published short-form writing is published on Free Radicals' Website and within the magazine's print and eBook/PDF form. The print and eBook/PDF forms are published four times per year.

We are also looking for artwork/photography that is print-/eBook-ready. Art must be centered on speculative (fiction) themes.

If you have any questions about submitting to Free Radicals, please reach out to the Editor-in-Chief, G. Michael Rapp, at freeradicalszine@gmail.com.

If you submit, please make sure you've read our Submissions page before submitting anything to us.

So, I've been hard at work putting together the first cover for Free Radicals. This cover, with some minor revisions, will be used for Issue 001. —G. Michael Rapp, Editor-in-Chief for Free Radicals
